About
Media Masters |
|
| |
|
|
Media Masters is arguably the most recognised Singapore publishing
imprint on the international scene. This is no mean feat for
a small independent company that was founded by a former war
correspondent in late 1977 to kickstart new careers for a couple
of his displaced and "unemployable" friends.
How many Singapore-produced publications have sold more than
a million copies? How many Singapore-published works can you
read in Dutch, Hungarian, Arabic or Vietnamese? Or, for that
matter, in Japanese, Spanish, German, Italian, Greek, Danish,
Hebrew, Korean and Thai... or, to make a sometimes touchy distinction...
in British English and American English!

Well, Media Masters' Being Happy! by Andrew Matthews,
the first title in our "Books To Lift Your Life" series has, to
date, sold more than 1.8 million copies worldwide. Thirty-one
foreign publishing houses have come up with their own national
language editions of our book. |

Another
title within the same series, Meditate, Rejuvenate by
Dr Paul Galbraith, has inspired readers in Spain, Mexico and
China. Another addition to our "Books To Lift Your Life" line-up
-- Tender Touch by Dr Paul Staerker -- is available in
Australia, the United Kingdom and the USA.
Publishing phenomena, characterised by amazing
sales figures and positive and extensive media coverage, are
just part of the Media Masters' success story.

History
made more readable is another aspect of our business. In 1992,
Media Masters published 'The killer they called a god',
the incredible World War II story of the senior Japanese officer
solely responsible for ordering the Bataan Death March in the
Philippines, the Chinese Massacre in Singapore and several other
mass atrocities throughout the Pacific theatre. The meticulously-researched
exposé led Southeast Asian bestseller lists for eight months.
Thereafter, it has remained a "must-read" for military history
buffs. |

Another
historical work, 'Snaring the Other Tiger' brings into
devastating focus the vindictiveness of Australia's post-war military
establishment. 'Snaring the Other Tiger' received incredible
press coverage throughout Australia and South East Asia when it
was first released in late 1997. It has put the long venerated
Returned Servicemen's League (RSL) into a defensive mode. Predictably,
it has triggered chilling illogic from high powered Australian
political leaders and civil servants. But Media Masters has one
further prediction to make at this time: the last has not been
heard of the 'Snaring the Other Tiger' story. Already,
Hara Shobo, one of the largest publishing houses in Japan
specializing in military history, has bought the Japanese language
rights to the book and released their edition in March, 2005.

So this is the Media Masters stable: Subjects of substance.
Books to lift your life. Titles that delve deep into festering
sores; that get at truths and shatter self-serving myths. Publications
like "Your Body, Your Choice" that break new ground and get
endorsed by some of the world's great medical and scientific
minds. Books that succeed and sell. But books that also nourish
and help one grow. This is the Media Masters formula.
We feel privileged to work with our authors. We endeavour to
put a face on our millions of readers.
Do publishers have a motto? If Media Masters had one, it would
be this:Life is to be made better; life is too short for
myths.
